"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change"

GROUP THERAPY

Group therapy is a powerful medium to bring about hope and change.  In a safe and dynamic environment, group members work out their difficulties within the interpersonal actions of the here and the now with fellow group members.  The primary vehicle for change is to practice communication of emotions directly and to receive feedback from others to further elucidate patterns that contribute to "stuckness" rather than growth.  This process provides an environment to reinforce self-acceptance through learning that individual suffering, while always unique in some ways, shares similar human components.  It also allows experience with creating interpersonal and emotional boundaries that are simultaneously enriching and safe.  There is a growing literature to support group therapy for neurobiological organization and healing from various emotional difficulties.  I lead groups in the morning, afternoon and evening for adults of all ages.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

I create a safe environment to facilitate focused exploration in working with adults and adolescents.  Through enabling self-awareness and compassion, treatment gradually identifies interpersonal, cognitive, and behavioral patterns that undermine emotional fluidity, creativity, growth and satisfaction.  I am an active participant and utilize the therapeutic relationship, psychoeducation, mindfulness, and self-monitoring tools to promote change.

COUPLES THERAPY

Couples often have similar underlying psychological make up, yet cope with life in disparate ways.  In therapy we work together to enhance awareness of each individual and how some patterns of relating may perpetuate early life dynamics, rather than allow for new growth and intimacy.   We will uncover each person's attachment and coping style, to then translate them into alternative ways of communicating, understanding, and empathizing.
